Crash of Champions League.
0-0 draw at Highbury saw Arsenal through to the quarter final of the Champions league after their historic 0-1 victory at the Santiago Bernabeu two weeks ago. The defeat almost certainly means another season without silverware for the troubled giants, who face competition from Valencia, who they face this weekend, for the runners-up spot in the Liga. Their best chances fell to Ronaldo fresh from a weekend off, but he is not the striker he was earlier in the season before he was rushed back prematurely from injury by W. Luxemburgo for the first Barcelona derby. His 2 best chances were thwarted first by Flamini, with a block as the Brazilian was about to pull the trigger, and Jens Lehmann with a low save to keep out a far post header. Rail hit the post with a close range header after a flick on from Beckham, then saw the German keeper recover to somehow keep out his follow-up effort. At the other end, Henry, Ljungberg and Reyes were enjoying themselves at the expense of Real's frail defensive unit, but Casillas was at his best to deny a well-measured strike from the graceful French striker, and Jose Antonio Reyes was unlucky to hit the bar after a breakaway move involving Hleb and Henry.
