Weighing in at 7kg, Arancha is the biggest baby ever born at Madrid's La Paz Hospital! Her father wants to check the Guinness Book of Records, while her mother has had her fallopian tubes sewn up so she cannot have any more. The couple, who are originally from Colombia, already have a daughter, who weighed 5kg at birth. They moved to Spain around five and a half years ago and live in Colmenar Viejo. Dr Pirez Rodriguez, who delivered the baby, explained that a caesarian section had been performed during the 39th week of the pregnancy; Arancha was born on the 13th February, and both she and her mother are doing fine. The baby's mother explained to journalists that, although she had been under medical supervision and had followed the diet recommended by her doctors, she had been unable to control her baby's amazing growth. So big she is that she will have to wear clothes and nappies designed for three-month-old babies.
